Your Opportunity

Web Developer

Based in Central London or Harlow office

Permanent & full-time working 37.5 hours per week

Salary up to £45k depending on experience

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an innovative new online learning service that Pearson has launched in the UK. Working in partnership with universities across the country, our Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) teams provide online learning services for our university partners across the UK, including marketing, student recruitment, course content development, training and ongoing student support.

We are looking for a Web Developer with experience working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), who knows how to deliver a good user experience that effectively drives calls to action. This is a new role that will provide AEM development, operational maintenance and interpret web analytics across web portals, microsites and university-hosted campaign landing pages and blogs. As a web expert in the team, you’ll demonstrate passion and proactively share your technical knowledge to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team culture. One of the most exciting factors of the role is the opportunity to work on Pearson’s new e-commerce online learning platform, which currently focuses on short courses. There is plenty of opportunity for a tenacious individual to test different tactics, learn from experience, optimise to drive better performance, and influence the marketing strategy. This role will be reporting into the Web and SEO Manager, you’ll also work closely with UX designers, technical teams, web developers, project managers and product owner.

Your Key Responsibilities

Technical expertise:
Code new components, features and functionality for AEM, implement tracking into the websites and forms, using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.

Work closely with the web development team and internal operations team to resolve any website and data capture issues.

Be the main technical lead on new page and features launches.

Assist web authors with publishing new content and pages.

Conduct A/B and other testing of web pages to optimise performance.

Use analytical tools (like Hotjar and Google Analytics) to report on insights.

Implement insight driven changes on the website – back and front-end.

Make recommendations on test plans and optimisation to boost audience conversion rate or to drive specific actions.

Drive return on investment for the e-commerce website.

Web development:
Collaborate with designers and UX specialist to implement changes.

Work with the internal development team to find solutions for business goals.

Be one of the key subject matter experts to any future digital estate development such as mobile apps or a learning management portal.

Analytics and reporting:
Keep track on site performance using various tools (Lighthouse, GTMetrics, Google Analytics).

Work with the Marketing Managers and agencies to manage the Google Analytics, Hotjar, Google Tag Manager, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all accounts.

Our Successful Candidate

We welcome applicants with significant experience of building and managing AEM based websites – back and front-end development. You’ll need experience with e-commerce sites and a good understanding of UX principles and best practices. We are looking for expert-level knowledge of website architecture and accessibility. You’ll demonstrate proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Google Analytics and Tag Manager.

As this role sits within our Marketing team, you’ll come with experience collaborating with marketing-focused teams and understanding marketing objectives. You’ll need an understanding of development and approval processes, including code repositories. This role requires a highly organised professional, with the ability to multitask across different tasks, teams and deliverables. You’ll need excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting ideas and suggestions. You’ll naturally be curious and innovative and take pride in your work, with a true sense of ownership and accountability.
