Overview

Buckinghamshire Council are looking to recruit a Waste Services Coordinator to support the wider Operational Delivery management team.

This is a Fixed term post for 12 months.

About us

The role fits into the largest front facing operation of the Council within Neighbourhood Services which is part of the Communities Directorate.

You will form part of a passionate and enthusiastic team within Operational Delivery of Neighbourhood Services. The team is responsible for the strategic delivery of frontline statutory and commercial services across waste, street cleansing and grounds maintenance. You will be part of the backbone for ensuring these services are delivered to the highest of standard by managing service delivery projects, advising senior stakeholders on legislative changes and ensuring key software is manged to allow for smooth operational running day to day.

The team work flexibly Monday-Friday, often on site at Pembroke Road or working from home during the current global pandemic.

About the role

This role allows for decision making and budget accountability, with the autonomy to present ideas for change and improvement. No two days are ever the same. Despite structured workloads the role can sometimes be reactional based with on the ground practical and sensible decision making required to problem solve.

The candidate will support the wider Operational Delivery management team and frontline operations to identify, develop and implement consistent service improvements. Leading on service improvement projects such as waste collection round optimisations, the introduction of new services and industry led public realm communication campaigns.

There will be responsibilities for co-ordinating suitable waste management arrangements at new build properties. This includes providing technical advice on planning applications to ensure that service requirements are met and professional relationships are developed with landlords, managing agents and contractors.

About you

The successful candidate will act as the technical expert on waste legislation, from strategy, bills and policy, the individual must horizon scan to ensure legal changes and industry best practice are brought to the attention of senior management. Additionally be a front face as the technical expert for waste management software Bartec. This ranges from managing the contract, being able to produce data reports on request, manipulating and analysing data and ensuring any collection day changes are reflected in the system.

The successful candidate will have:
Worked within the waste industry, ideally within local government

Highly technical with Bartec waste management software

Strong communicator across an array of stakeholders

This role is a 1 year fix term contract.

The role will closed on Midnight of the 3rd March 2021
