Job Description

A Vetting Support Officer is required for a Permanent Contract role within the vetting department paying £24,490.39 plus £2,700.10 London Allowance per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

As Vetting Support Officer with BTP you will required to provide a professional, efficient and proactive administrative and support service to the Vetting Officers/Managers.

Vetting will be for police officers, staff, external contractors as well as those requiring vetting via the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme in accordance with the framework of the Vetting Authorised Professional Practice.

As Vetting Support Officer, you will be required to:
To be the first point of contact for all vetting applications within the force – this could be from internal/external applicants or via external contractors and those as part of the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme

To receive, examine and identify applications with inaccurate data and liaise with applicants (internal or external) to ensure accurate resolution and processing utilising the Force Vetting database.

Responsible for extrapolating data from appropriate systems (such as Gatekeeper/ Core-vet) and to produce and present accurate vetting performance data and reports on a monthly and quarterly basis allowing scrutiny from internal and external stakeholders (eg Head of PSD and BTPA).

Trouble shoot administrative problems and analyse vetting application content to ensure accuracy of information and reduce delays in recruitment processes

The successful Vetting Support Officer will be required to evidence the following skills:

A level qualification (or equivalent) preferably with an administration bias to demonstrate intermediate administration fundamentals as well experience of undertaking research as part of their course.

Previous senior administrative or business support experience within a demanding environment utilising a high level of organisational ability and attention to detail.

Experience and aptitude in using a variety of relevant IT systems and databases to be able to analyse and provide performance reports
