We are seeking to appoint teaching assistants who are enthusiastic and caring and looking for a varied and rewarding role. Working with all the young people in our care you will work as part of a team to provide the support enabling them to achieve the greatest possible level of independence and inclusion.

Job Salary: Bucks Pay Range 1, Point 6-10 Salary £11,701 – £12,842 pro rata (approx. gross) based on 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (FTE £17,017 to £18,676)

Contract Type: Maternity Contracts available, Term Time only

Hours: Full time only 30 hours per week 8.45am to 3.15 pm Monday to Friday

About us

Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Booker Park School is large primary special school of 228 pupils which caters for children with a broad diversity of complex needs including Profound and Multiple, Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition.

About the role

Working under the instruction/guidance of teaching and senior class staff this rewarding and sometimes challenging role will include supporting pupils to access and engage with teacher led curriculum/learning activities, encouraging them to interact with others and helping to promote their self-esteem.

You will assist with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans and personal care, which may include attending to personal hygiene needs and administering medication. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. Comprehensive training is provided as appropriate to the role and continued professional development of our staff is encouraged.

In order to carry out this role you will enjoy working with pupils who have special educational needs, have an appreciation of the positive attitudes required to encourage independence in our pupils together with high expectations and respect towards them. You will be able to communicate with all members of our school community and possess common sense, warmth and a sense of humour.

You will also be enthusiastic and caring, resilient, healthy and committed to working as part of a team. Flexibility and a commitment to training is expected.
