Teacher Job at MCXI in Broughton Astley
MCXI owns and operates Lodge Farm Education, a therapeutic farm school which caters for up to 10 students 11-17 years old with SEMH conditions.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated teacher to join our team from January 2021. This post would suit experienced or newly qualified teachers who have a keen interest in pursuing a career working with students with SEN in a unique therapeutic setting. Though our students are aged 11-17, we feel this post may suit an existing upper primary teacher who is able to teach Maths Functional Level 2.
You will join the amazing, committed team providing a meaningful therapeutic education opportunity for young people who require an alternative experience in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
All of our students have SEMH and Communication and Interaction difficulties, including Autism, and have experienced failures in mainstream and special school situations
We can offer you the opportunity to really make a difference in our young people’s lives. You will help to inspire the students and staff, and be key to ensuring we work holistically to provide the best possible outcomes and experiences for our young people.
You will hold QTS and have completed your NQT year.
Lodge Farm is a small alternative educational provision based on an 8-acre site. This therapeutic setting offers space and privacy for students with additional needs to grow and mature. Though we have been in operation since 2012 as part of a larger group of SEMH schools, we are setting up on our own.
Lodge Farm offers a natural mix of indoor and outdoor learning on a daily basis. What students receive from us is far more than just an academic education. With such a small close-knit team, we get to know our students, their families and their unique home-lives as standard. This allows us to offer an individualised programme of learning for each student to help them succeed, whilst they are at the farm and beyond.
The successful applicant will:
- have a keen interest in working with children with SEN
- enjoy diverse learning inside and outside the classroom
- have an interest in animals and/or farm processes
- be an innovative and creative teacher
- have high expectations of children’s learning and behaviour
- be a motivated team player and a positive role model for others
- be caring and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills
- be dynamic in their approach to the curriculum
- demonstrate our school’s vision and values
