Software Engineer (Data Infrastructure) Job at Oxbotica – in Oxford
Your day might include:
Designing, developing, deploying and maintaining a constellation of software services and APIs which enable engineers to develop and deploy tasks implementing their data workflows
Working with large (multi-terabyte), distributed sets of unstructured and structured data
Designing and evaluating novel approaches for handling high-volume datasets
Participating in the engineering life-cycle: including design, writing production code, documentation, and conducting code reviews
Oxbotica’s development work and operational activities produce a vast quantity of valuable data, and this role sits in the team that owns the responsibility for the creation and support of the processing pipeline that is used to automatically manage this data.
This has to be done in a scalable and flexible way to ensure the data can be used effectively throughout many other teams across a variety of workflows and the Data Infrastructure team aims to provide powerful software platforms for users to extract the maximum value from AV data.
What you need to succeed:
Strong software engineering skills: particularly in Python, and at least one other modern language (Java, C++, Rust, Go, …)
An interest in infrastructure technologies (databases, computing clusters)
Awareness of good software development processes and working as part of an agile team
Familiarity in using *nix-based systems
Eagerness to learn new skills and technologies
Extra kudos if you have:
Exposure to containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes etc.)
Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
An interest in Big Data technologies (data pipelines, ETL, …)
Exposure to web development (React, Backstage)
A starting salary between £45,000 – £60,000 with an annual salary review
