About the nursery

Tops Corfe Mullen is a friendly, local nursery situated on the main stretch of the village. Employees benefit from easy, accessible parking with both a large car park and lots of off road parking! The nursery is also less than a 5 minute walk away from the extremely popular BH Live Leisure Complex.

The 86 place nursery is very lucky to have a large garden which has a good range of climbing, balancing and sliding equipment! There is also a sand pit and planting areas – we love access to outdoor play in all weathers! The nursery run a number of extra-curricular activities including Tops Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, meditation and much more!

About You

As a Senior Practitioner at one of our nurseries, your key responsibility will be to act as a key worker to children within the nursery/unit and to work as part of a team with other practitioners and management to provide a high standard of emotional, social and intellectual care for all children at the nursery.

The successful candidate will:
Hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification either Level 3 or equivalent

Have post qualifying experience with children ages 0-5 years old

Have a solid knowledge of the EYFS

Have an up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene

Need a clear and valid DBS – oversee applicants will need a clear and valid certificate of good conduct

Be flexible with start and finishing times

Engage well with other team members and senior management

Act as a role model and support colleagues at all times

Be a team-player who is enthusiastic, hardworking and committed to a career within childcare

As part of your professional development we expect all colleagues to undertake and continue their training once they have joined Tops. Undergoing a relevant qualification to your position is paramount in order to broaden your knowledge and build upon your skills to help you in your role. Therefore as a Senior Practitioner we would support you in doing your Level 2 Team Leading qualification.

Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve:
Support the Room Manager to ensure daily, weekly and monthly checks in the room and agreed action plans are completed effectively

Ensuring accident trends are monitored and actioned appropriately

Ensure staff are trained and coached, making sure there are appropriate staff in the room

Contribute to staff meetings and celebrate good practise

Be competent and effective with settling in profiles for children, alongside their short term, medium term and long term plans, and next steps and learning journeys.
