As a Senior Interaction Designer, your main responsibilities would be to:

Share your specialist knowledge and experience with the team to deliver DWP services, products and tools which fulfil user needs

Manage other people’s work, support senior level discussions

Have an excellent understanding of best practice, prototyping and future developments

Contribute to building an open and collaborative culture within the department and the design community

Focus will be on fulfilling user needs and understanding user journeys, using prototypes to do so

Support and mentor team members

You’ll have relevant experience in:
Working within a multidisciplinary team in an agile environment to turn concepts into user-centred designs

Good working knowledge of interaction design in practice i.e. methods of prototyping, how to version and host a prototype

Creating and iterating prototypes to test and communicate ideas and help the wider team learn about user needs

Managing stakeholder needs across different areas with a focus on supporting discussions at senior departmental level

Previous experience of the GOV.UK prototype kit and JavaScript would be beneficial

You will also have these skills:
Prototyping: ability to select the right prototyping method to quickly answer the questions the team have about a design

Sketching and drawing wireframes and interaction flows

Competent using digital drawing software, Sketch is used in DWP but transferable skills from other software are acceptable (e.g. Adobe, Figma, Affinity)

The ability to interpret complex data and synthesize so it can be easily communicated

An understanding of, or comfortable to code HTML and CSS

Any rates of payment quoted will reflect the gross rate per day for the assignment, and will be subject to appropriate taxes and statutory costs. As such the payment to the intermediary and your income resulting from this contract will be different.
