About The RoleWorking as part of our Platform engineering team, your role will be to build infrastructure enhancements and maintain operational efficiency of data systems for our existing data systems such as Snowflake and Airflow. Ultimately we think data engineering will be its own remit at carwow, so this role will have the opportunity to build their own team and lead innovation with data engineering.
You’ll also work with data scientists to help build our data infrastructure.
What you will be doing Apply broad knowledge of technology options, technology platforms, design techniques and approaches across the Data Engineering ecosystem to build systems that meet business needs Build systems and datasets using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, recent advances in distributed systems, and operational excellence best practices Analyze source systems, define underlying data sources and transformation requirements, design suitable data models and document the design/specifications Demonstrate a passion for quality and productivity by use of efficient development techniques, standards and guidelines Effectively communicate with various teams and stakeholders, escalate technical and managerial issues at the right time and resolve conflicts Peer review work.
Actively mentor other members of the team, improving their skills, their knowledge of our data systems and their ability to get things done
Looking for candidates with 5+ years of experience working with production data infrastructure, experience working on data infrastructure projects such as cloud re-platforming of systems, implementing deploying and maintaining data infrastructure to help support data and BI teams. Ideally worked with deployments to Heroku SQL ETL/ELT knowledge, experience with DAGs to manage script dependencies with tools like Airflow Good knowledge of Data Warehousing systems like Snowflake
Experience withorchestration systems like Terraform Python or Ruby skills , particularly in the areas of automation & integrations is preferable Good practical understanding of git Good communications skills across all levels of stakeh…
