NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow
Fixed term: 6 months
Full time: 40 hours per week (including on-calls)
£31,841 – £50,068 per annum (MN37)
The post will provide applicants the opportunity to gain further experience in Frailty and Medicine for Older People. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to develop appropriate clinical skills, undertake audit/quality improvement programs and the opportunity to gain a specialist skill with allocated study time incorporated, if the successful candidate so wishes. Examples of specialist kills include USS/ procedural skill training/ involvement in simulation training within the trust or involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education within the trust. We would, however, be happy to consider and discuss other suggestions from suitable candidates.
The successful candidate will be expected to have certification in ALS and will be required to work to a rota comprising a mixture of 9am-5pm day shifts, twilight shifts, night and weekend on-call shifts.
Due to the short term nature of the role/service demand, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC and have existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application. Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through the shortlisting stage.
The Department is a closely knit group of 15 Geriatricians & Stroke Physicians who also undertake Geriatric Medicine.
There is a superb multi-disciplinary environment and the successful candidate will be working alongside a team of Training Grade Doctors.
Contribute as a middle grade in the running of one of the Geriatric wards – 5A, 5B, Frailty services and Stroke unit at Whiston/St Helens Hospitals
Participate in the General Medicine on call rota as a middle grade/Registrar
Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties
Advise FY1’s, CT Trainees and ANPs about management of patients
Develop skills in managing the wards to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care to all patients.
