We are looking for a kind, caring and creative teaching assistant to join our SEN team. The successful applicant will carry out the responsibilities of a level 2 teaching assistant, facilitating personalised provision for a small group of children who struggle to learn full time in the mainstream classroom environment due to social, emotional, communication and language needs. The children all have personalised timetables that allow them to work sometimes within a small group and sometimes within their main class with support.

Works well as part of a team and can be flexible in order to meet the needs of the children in our school
Understand the principles of early education with a real ability to nurture, inspire and motivate children
Understands the need to adapt provision to support individual needs and promote the highest levels of engagement
Has the ability to support individual children with their learning and development
Aims for excellence and has high standards
Is willing to become part of the whole school community
Is enthusiastic and motivated, with a good sense of humour
Communicates well with parents
Has empathy for others
Main Responsibilities:
Help develop and deliver tailored teaching activities to individual pupil with an EHCP or more complex additional needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
Deliver high quality explanations and model learning for the children
Use ongoing assessment to tailor activities to support the individual needs of the children
Take responsibility for the learning environment of the group
Support the children to be able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity
Support the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues when required
Communicate effectively with the class teacher and the children’s parents
Contribute to team meetings with other professionals where required
Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers and the SENDCO on pupils’ progress
