SDA Modelling and Simulation Engineer Job at UK Government – Ministry of Defence – in Bristol

Job Description

We’re looking for a keen, and astute Modelling and Simulation Engineer to join the Training Project Team. You will be key in supporting us with the delivery of our Training capability for the Dreadnought Class of submarines.

The Dreadnought programme is arguably one of the most high profile and complex feats of engineering in the world today! This role offers a chance to have a big impact on how our engineers and crew are trained!

As part of our training offering, the SDA work with simulators that mimic how our submarine systems operate. As our Modelling and Simulation Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to solve problems and support improved performance and enhanced capability of these training simulators, including how to link systems together for group training.

Please note, due to the nature of projects involved, this role can accept applications from SOLE UK Nationals only.

Responsibilities

You will provide specialist technical advice and guidance to the Project team including;

Evaluating engineering technical proposals from Industry for a range of Training equipment’s that employ modelling and simulation.

Overseeing and providing project assurance of the Design, Development, Testing and Acceptance of a range of Training equipment’s.

Ensuring compliance with MOD Policy on the Defence Modelling & Simulation Coherency (DMaSC) and liaison with the Defence Simulation Centre

Representing the Project at technical working groups and other appropriate forums

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Engineering qualification in an Information Technology, related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of Design, Development, Testing and Acceptance processes in an engineering environment
  • Background in Modelling & Simulation

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview:

  • Technical Risk Management – Practitioner
  • Communicating and influencing
  • Changing and improving
