Planner (Policy and Research) Job at Lichfields – in London
We are a growing business and have an exciting opportunity for a Planner (Policy and Research) to join our London office. We are looking for a recent graduate or someone with up to two years’ experience, whether in consultancy, local government, client side or third sector, to join our Think Tank team.
You will gain experience on a wide variety of work and have the opportunity to provide fast-paced and insightful information, policy advice and thought leadership within Lichfields and to clients. You will be working with colleagues in a small policy and research team and across the firm, advising a variety of clients, learning and sharing advice on the defining topics across the industry.

You will have the opportunity in this role to work with colleagues and support the work of all of our nine offices across the broad range of sectors we advise on. The successful candidate would be supported in a small team and expected to progress quickly and undertake some client-facing project work in the role, both for professional development (including the RTPI accreditation pathway) and to obtain practical experience of planning and development issues in order to perform the role successfully.
Candidates should have:
an RTPI and/ or RICS accredited planning qualification; and/ or
at least a 2.1 at first degree level; and
policy and research analysis skills and an interest in information collection and dissemination;
an interest in the built environment; and
excellent communication skills.
The combination of planning policy, law, research and planning project work means that this role is suited to a high calibre individual keen to gain a breadth of experience. Previous planning experience is not essential but an understanding of and interest in the current UK planning system is desirable.
