Overview – Red Meat UK (RMUK) Division

Kepak Red Meat UK (consisting of our two brands; St Merryn and McIntosh Donald), operates from three sites within the UK. McIntosh Donald, in Aberdeen has the capacity to slaughter 2,500 lambs and 1,800-2000 cattle per week. St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities, with the capacity to slaughter 20,000 lambs and 2,000 cattle per week while our second St. Merryn site in Bodmin, Cornwall has the capacity to slaughter 1,500 cattle per week. We have dedicated retail packing capabilities within our business and offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service.

Role Purpose

To handle all payroll related tasks at site including processing payroll, taxation forms and benefits, as well as maintaining employee data, answering payroll queries and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the payroll process. Support Payroll Manager in completing start to end payroll processes accurately and in a timely manner to ensure all deadlines are met.

Role Requirements

Co-ordinating weekly and monthly payroll processes.

Collating and verifying employee time and attendance data.

Processing pay elements, deductions, commissions, benefits, etc.

Review payroll data to ensure accuracy.

Complete reconciliations and period end processes.

Process payroll journals.

Working with relevant stakeholders to resolve queries/omissions.

Identifying and processing underpayments/overpayments, working with the HR Department.

Issuing e-payslips in line with payroll deadlines.

Updating payroll information for promotions, transfers, terminations, and new hires.

Recording and maintaining employee records and payroll transactions.

Preparing statements reflecting earnings, taxes, and deductions.

Monitoring Payroll mailbox, answering queries and resolving issues regarding payroll in a timely manner.

Ensuring compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.

Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.

Assist Payroll Manager to identify and implement site payroll process efficiencies.

Actively monitor and reduce payroll errors, identifying root cause of issues and resolving.

Collate and submit pension data, updating schemes/broker as required.

Participate in the co-ordination between Payroll, Human Resources and Finance teams to provide a competent and professional payroll service to the business, including site’s payroll related projects.

Assist the Payroll Manager to ensure that all statutory and third-party reporting deadlines are met.

Site Super User for payroll and time and attendance system, providing training and support to users as required and responsible for system set up/management.

Raise monthly payment requests for all foreign payments, benefits, legislative and union bodies.

Assist as required with Finance team support.Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder.

Commitment to good practice and customer service

Communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels

Strong IT skills in Payroll systems and Office packages (particularly Advanced/OpenPay, Word, SharePoint, Excel)
