Are you a self-motivated individual who would like to play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of Park and Sports Services for our Sport on Park bookings?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Parks Officer to join our small team to develop and promote a safe, pleasant and friendly environment for service users and to provide an efficient operational service within our parks and green spaces.
Based at Abbey Park, you’ll be required to work across various parks and opens spaces to allow sport teams to access sports pitches and associated changing rooms to participate in their respective sports leagues. You’ll be required to work every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, and have the flexibility to work evenings and bank holidays as and when required according to the needs of the service.
As a Parks Officer, you’ll assist with the day-to-day running, promotion and development of sport on parks. You’ll undertake building inspections which include water checks and fire alarm checks as well as checks to sport related features that exist within our parks and open spaces. You’ll open and lock up changing rooms that are used for sports bookings as well as deal with enquiries in regards to these bookings. Under the instructions of the Sports on Parks Officer, you’ll carry out duties which have been scheduled for that day and resolve any issues that may arise in relation to the buildings.
What you’ll need
With experience of supervision and security of buildings, you’ll have an understanding of different recreational sports and the operational requirements needed for teams to participate in their respective leagues. You’ll have experience of opening/closing a building and setting up to meet the needs of users and the service in order to create a welcoming and well-presented environment. Using your initiative, you’ll be able to plan routes to open and close sports buildings in a logical order. With the ability to lift, carry and move furniture and equipment, you’ll be able to carry remedial cleaning of changing rooms, outside of buildings etc. You’ll have excellent communication skills to be able to deal with customer queries and deal with conflict situations.
