Job Summary

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for a mechanical engineer to join our product development team based in Tewkesbury for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. You will be working on projects to develop commercial and military aircraft components, typically used in flight control and engine control applications.

This role will work alongside a team of engineers who deliver projects through our new product development process. In the early phase of a project your tasks will include, reviewing a customer technical specification, influencing early design concepts, writing technical compliance statement justifications and working closely with a programme manager to construct a project plan. As the project approaches design reviews, you will be working on sizing and performance calculations, mitigating any design, performance & structural risks using appropriate methods e.g. analysis and tests.

You will also participate in or lead DFMEA and PFMEA processes, liaising with manufacturing and production support teams to ensure that the design is robust for recurring cost, manufacture & assembly. In the later stages of a project you will develop test procedures, support development testing to verify performance, write test reports, investigate problems and draw conclusions.

In addition, you may be required to provide professional support to solve problems with our legacy products or assist with research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable strong collaboration and coordination, this includes informal (e.g. verbal, e-mail, etc.) and formal communication (e.g. procedures, reports, presentation, etc).

Sound understanding of mechanical and hydraulic design concepts and associated principles.

An aptitude for collecting, analysing and evaluating data.

Experience with production and qualification test methods to aerospace standards.

Experience in assembly techniques and associated tooling.

Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, as used in aerospace products would be advantageous.

Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.

Self-motivated and an aptitude for problem solving.
