Can you academically support psychology students, with a focus on MSc, and participate in the development of study skills resources?
You will join an established learning support team in a world-renowned psychology department.
You will be using your experience and skills in psychology to provide subject-specific support to enhance student learning.
You will have the opportunity to create bespoke online learning resources with the support of our experienced digital education team.
You will be working with our unique and very diverse student population.
The Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking to appoint a part time (0.5 FTE) Learning Development Tutor. You will be a valued addition to the current learning support team working in the department. The main purpose of the role is to provide effective learning support for postgraduate students, helping to improve student learning and enhance student experience. In particular, you will need to take into account both the academic and wellbeing needs of students who are undertaking our MSc Psychology conversion course.
You will be able to confidently deliver academic skills support, including research methods, to students primarily at postgraduate level through a range of different channels, including online learning, as appropriate to the Department’s needs.
You will be familiar with different teaching and learning techniques and will be comfortable actively promoting these skills to students and staff.
You should also have some understanding of how to support the wellbeing of students.
You will be used to working as part of a busy team and be able to communicate effectively with academic staff and all members of the department and College, including the student wellbeing services.
To be successful in this role, you will have at least an MSc in Psychology (PhD encouraged) and significant prior experience of supporting research methods learning to MSc level. In addition, you will have the ability to help design and deliver study skills activities and resources to large cohorts of students.
Grade 7 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £38,594 rising to £44,113 per annum pro rata where the hours required are at 0.5 of the full time equivalent.
The salary quoted will be pro-rata for this part time post and is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
