Job Description

We are looking for a talented hardware engineer to join our world-changing startup that will use a constellation of autonomous underwater robots to conduct large scale exploration and monitoring of the oceans. Our focus is on creating a profitable way to provide the world with answers about the biggest natural resource and creating a system that allows humanity to use the resources that we need to survive from the ocean in a way that expands our knowledge and tackles climate change, accelerates offshore renewables and delivers sustainable oceans.

We are looking for someone who can take the lead in the of the fabrication of underwater robots for an exciting startup that is making a step-change in the way that marine survey data is collected. You will be working with other team members to use the lesson learned from or the first-generation vehicle to design and build the first swarm of vehicles to perform an industrial demonstration. We have a prototype of our robot and now have funding to build the first swarm of 10 in an 18-month project (which started in September 2020) funded by Mar-RI UK titled [‘Global Ocean Surveillance Network](https://https://www.marri-uk.org/funding-opportunities/technology-and-innovation-in-uk-maritime-call/technology-and-innovation-call-winners)”

The efforts so far have been lead by the CEO and founder who has expertise in underwater robotics as well as a lot of experience designing AUVs in the ocean. We have 1 vehicle now and you will be designing fabricating the next 10 and in the next 5 years will be working on designs that will be fabricated on a scale anything up to 1 million vehicles. We are developing communications systems and skills in this area are also highly desired

We need someone that can work full time for 11 months at least from the start of November and regularly come to the HQ in Edinburgh but remote working part-time is possible. The base salary over the first 18 months will be £35K per annum and will include up to 2% equity. Additionally, upon successful completion of the project, there will be a substantial bonus. Furthermore, the base salary will increase up to c.£60k once the company starts generating revenues or raises further significant funding.

COVID-19 considerations:
We work in the Edinburgh Open Workshop which has a covid management policy and we are implementing our own on top of that which does allow for some home working but a lot of the fabrication needs to be done on-site and we adapting to covid as we can.
