Strategic Command (UKStratCom) is an operationally focused 4* Command and a Top-Level Budget (TLB) department in Defence. Providing the structure and coordination of our Armed Forces, ensuring we are responding to threats across all five domains – Air, Land, Sea, Cyber and Space. Strategic Command provides effective and coherent management of several diverse ranges of organisations within the TLB from Permanent Joint Headquarters, Defence Intelligence, Defence Digital, Special Forces, Joint Force Development, Defence Medical Services, to operational commands of UK Forces overseas. It has a federated structure and is highly delegated but is unified by a single vision and shared outputs.

Based within Strategic Command’s Headquarters this post sits within the Information Governance Team and provides an exciting opportunity to play a central role within the Chief of Staff’s area. You will support on Information Assurance (IA), Data Protection (DP), and Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) activities across the command, providing a key role to support the underpinning deliverables expected from the Information Governance Team. You will assist with ensuring controls and monitoring are in place to exploit, protect and assure its information assets in accordance with departmental policies and legal obligations (including the DPA 18 regulations) placed on the Command.
Assist with Information Governance activities, including Information Assurance compliance and internal & external audit activities across the TLB.
Support Data Protection activities to monitor Data Protection (DP) compliance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Subject Access Request (SARs), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and effective management of Data Protection Incidents.
Provide administrative support for TLB Information Asset Register, conducting regular reviews and drafting reports outlining findings with recommendations for improved compliance.
Identify areas for IA, DP and KIM/Records Management development across the TLB and support the development of a communications programme to raise User awareness and improve Information Management behaviours including maintenance of Information Governance Portal, drafting Information Tips, newsletter articles, posters, leaflets and the coordination of upskilling training workshops.
Provide administrative support for TLB stakeholder meetings which the Information Governance Team lead on.
