We are one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We aim to make a positive difference to people’s lives through better sight and eye health.

Newmedica have an exciting national growth plan over the next five years and as a result of our planned growth we have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our Support Office team, for a Head of IT to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing excellent services to a diverse group of colleagues working across our network of eye hospitals, delivering first class patient care and improving the lives of our patients.

A salary of £80,000+

What will the role involve?

This is a new role created to lead the transformation of the technical capability of the business to support the ambitious and exciting growth strategy. This is a chance to make a significant contribution to an independent health provider.

Your principal accountabilities are to lead the IT team to deliver a portfolio of complex change projects and initiatives to support efficient and sustainable growth, and to attain on time, cost, and quality delivery of change for the user community within the organisation.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT services to both the Services (Ophthalmic Joint Venture businesses and Managed Services) and the Support Office, including standard network, email, telephony, and corporate systems. You will have a proven record of leading the design and delivery of healthcare IT systems to support growth and innovation.

This may also include transition and integration to Specsavers systems where integrations make sense and add value to the Newmedica business.

The aim is to create “slick” operational systems & processes working with partners, the OJV service management team and other support office functions.

What skills and experience do I need for the role?

We are looking for someone who thrives on change and has the mindset for change! The Head of IT role is a key member of the senior operations team, engaging with a variety of stakeholders, so we are looking for a confident and clear and someone able to talk in plain English versus technical speak.

Someone with a customer centric focus who can engage stakeholders with differing priorities will fit well into this role.

You should be a proven senior IT technology leader with experience of delivering business wide application development and deliveries and scaling IT Operations in a high growth company.

It is key you have a solid understanding of computer systems, applications, and operating systems, able to make sound technical decisions as well as manage projects. In addition, you should have experience of managing multiple IT disciplines (i.e. software development, technical support, systems architecture) and delivering complex IT application projects.

Experience leading healthcare IT systems projects is critical as is the ability to manage and develop people and manage budgets.
