As Head of Education you will manage the development and delivery of The Donkey Sanctuary’s donkey care and welfare training and education programmes in line with TDS strategy and current best practice. Manage the organisation and operation of donkey focused education, and training staff and approaches across TDS. Support and evaluate the content and standards of training delivered by other trainers to ensure best practice and consistency. Providing pedagogic expertise and working with a team of equine experts, you will ensure that new and existing learning resources meet the needs of learners and are effectively assessed and developed. In addition you will drive the development of blended and distance learning approaches via the virtual learning environment (VLE) developing and delivering a cutting edge solution to improving the welfare of donkeys and mules globally and to ensure we reach a global network of learners.

You should be able to demonstrable experience of developing education programmes in a Higher Education or Further Education environment and the ability to design and deliver training including that required to a specified professional level. Experience of using technology-enhanced learning, e-learning and blended learning in order to facilitate teaching and learning for students based in remote locations and up-to-date knowledge of technologies used in teaching and learning are essential as is a full driver’s licence.

Good communication and management skills are required as you will be managing, motivating and developing a team whilst make good decisions under pressure and deliver to strict deadlines.

This role can be done remotely with regular visits to Sidmouth, Devon – an area of outstanding natural beauty – This is a full time permanent contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 08.30 – 16.30.
