We take a hands-on approach within the local area with a dedicated team of Family Support Workers who aim to understand family’s needs.
Where do we work?
Staff are predominately based in Children & Family Centres.
One to one support takes place in the family home, community or educational establishment.
Group work takes place at our Children & Family Centre’s or in the community.
Virtual and online delivery.
Solution focused: asking and empowering families to make choices with the sole aim of making a positive difference to their lives.
Outcome focused: fostering collaboration with families to set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely through a comprehensive needs assessment.
A multi-disciplinary team, who work with us with one main objective, to support the family through Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, working together through a clear plan.
Open and empowering: supporting families with the overall aim of fostering resilience as opposed to reliance to ensure real and sustained change.
What do we deliver to families and in our children & family centres?
Parenting Programmes: Solihull, Incredible Years, You and Me Mum, Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit, Triple P and various other programmes.
Baby and Toddler targeted support groups.
Facilitate room bookings for; contact, counselling sessions/observations, child minders, external management meetings, shared multi agency rooms and many more.
Dedicated rooms for health provisions such as baby hearing, development checks, maternity consultations, and counselling.
Confidential spaces for family support workers to meet with families in the community they live in.
Multi faith rooms open to the public to use during their time with us.

Competitive rate of pay.
Travel expenses covered between locations at 40p per mile.

Supervision by a Barnardo’s Team Manager as well support from a team of experienced Senior Family Support Workers.

We are looking for a number of Family Support Workers to join our team with hours from 22.5 to 37 per week available (days/hours can be agreed following successful appointment). Contracts are permanent, funding dependent from April 2023. (Note – you only need to apply once to be considered for both full-time and part-time roles)
As a Family Support Worker you will be required to work with a degree of flexibility in hours and days to meet the needs of the service.
You will provide family support to children and families 0-11 with a variety of needs. You will be based within one of the children and family centres in the Gloucester City locality but will be expected to travel around the city and work from various sites. You will have good listening skills and a manner that encourages safe and trusting relationships.
You will value the importance of multi-agency working across a range of services (health, social care, police, education etc), that it is an integral part of your work and relationships with agencies in and around Gloucester City.
You will have experience in and awareness of family support services and how services support families with complex needs.
Access to own transport is desirable but not essential as long as you can travel throughout the locality to meet the requirements of the role.
