A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated housekeeper on the children’s surgical ward D35.

The 12 bedded unit provides a service caring for children and their families with numerous surgical conditions. This is a challenging busy environment incorporating a supportive multi-professional team.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.

It is essential that you have experience of working in the health care environment and interacting with the general public.

You will be responsible for providing a clean and safe environment for families and staff. Your role will involve managing supplies, equipment and general stock. You will be expected to organise your own workload whilst under supervision from the nursing team.

You will be expected to be flexible working various hours throughout the week.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To stock up unit trolleys, including bedside, cannulation, etc.

To strip bed spaces following discharge of patients.

Check in deliveries and supplies and store appropriately.

Maintain levels of clinical and non clinical items.

Maintain cleanliness of equipment and tidiness.

To assist in setting up bed spaces for an admission with supervision from a registered children’s nurse.

To under messenger, delivery and collection duties or urgent requests, specimens, x-rays, pharmacy items etc.

To promptly manage telephone messages and ensure relevant personnel are informed.

to relieve nurses of non nursing duties and carry out ad hoc requests.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service – I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.

Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
