Category Manager (Engineering) Job at Sartorius Corporation in Royston
This is a great opportunity for an experienced category manager in engineering (mechanics) categories to join our global team. Your role will be to strategically manage and further develop globally these categories and to build up a valuable network of global suppliers.
The position is based at our site in Royston (near Cambridge) with global travel (up to 20%).
About the position:
Responsible for preparing and implementing the global strategy for selected categories based on business needs thorough market analyses and supply chain cost modelling
Negotiating and implementing contracts, effectively managing the full contract life-cycle
Acting as supplier account manager – resolving issues, developing suppliers and manage relationships
Responsible for continuous data management, pro-active risk management, best practice sharing and achieving set goals
Searching, developing and implementing suppliers for global coverage and reducing the current supplier base
Acting as first point of contact for stakeholders belonging to different areas such as Procurement Engineering, Legal, Quality, Finance and suppliers across multiple countries
Qualified to a degree level or equivalent or professionally qualified
Strong relevant professional experience in category management in a global business environment, in particular in mechanical engineering
Experience and understanding of working within quality management systems
Experience of working in a low volume and high complexity environment
Solid track record in delivering substantial sustainable value through cost and process optimisation, collaboration and new ways of working
Capable of developing and successfully implementing purchasing strategies on a global level
Can work independently
Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills with a forward-looking global mind-set
Previous hands on experience in change management and in working in a transformation environment is desirable
