About the role

Balfour Beatty Homes has an exciting opportunity for a BUYER to join our business to work in Kettering.

Role Purpose:
To develop robust supply sources and purchase materials to the companies requirements, whilst collaborating with group procurement functions and utilising group deals where appropriate.

To ensure all plant and materials are purchased at competitive rates, within budget, delivered in line with programme and payments made based on agreed terms for verified goods and deliveries.

What you’ll be doing

You will have the following accountabilities:
Strategic overview of supply chain relationships

Ensure proposed tender list provides the right mix of suppliers with proven ability to deliver in all respects

Ensure all goods are procured and delivered to the required programmes and purchased at the most competitive rates and within budget

Ensure tender analysis’ are completed to the required standard and approved in accordance with policies and procedures

Ensure orders prepared, authorised and issued in line with programmes and in accordance with policies and procedures

Ensure quality and performance of materials are in line with required standards and to specification

Consolidate purchases of materials to achieve maximum economic benefit

Purchasing Standards:
Study and analyse markets to make recommendations of possible specification changes which would represent savings without detracting from quality requirements

Inform other departments of all relevant information regarding changes in materials, major price movements, delivery lead times and individual supply situations

Ensure compliance with BB Homes and BB Group Policies and Procedures

Who we’re looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:
This role requires a proven track record in relation to procurement of materials for residential properties with accountability for multiple projects;

The individual should be comfortable liaising with and supporting a group function, but very capable working on their own initiative; build the right relationships and ensure delivery of materials and plant in line with development requirements;

Commercial awareness is a must to really drive the best value for the business;

The individual should hold an appropriate and valid CSCS card, in addition to relevant qualifications;

The individual should have confidence in their ability to communicate with others and achieve deadlines and targets.
