Your role will be part of global Digital Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) team. This team integrates and oversees Pfizer’s global infrastructure; cloud services; information technology operations; cybersecurity, workforce platforms, standards, policies and Digital risk management.

The associate Data Center Engineering & Management will be responsible for maintaining the data center landscape, understanding and applying the basis of design to ensure compliance with standards globally. This includes Data Centers, Server Rooms, Technology Rooms, and Edge Sites. They will also lead projects related to the implementation of data center and server room buildouts and migrations.
Works closely with the Director of Data Center Engineering
Understanding of Data Center, Server Room, Edge Site & Technology Room Infrastructure
Has knowledge of Electrical Systems, Life Safety, UPS, Environmental, and Access Control Systems as related to the Data Center and Server Room environment
Understanding of Server, Network & Storage Technologies, Cabling systems, and wide area connectivity
Understanding of Cloud computing technologies
Understanding of Floor Plans and Equipment Rack elevations diagrams
Provides infrastructure project management
Basic knowledge of the Service Center ticketing system: Incident Management, Change Management, Request Management, Configuration Management
Understanding of ITIL principles and requirements
Microsoft Office Suite experience, required
AutoCad experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Electrical Engineering, Cloud Computing or a related field
Knowledge of aligning enterprise workloads with hosting platforms, such as cloud or converged infrastructure
Knowledge of storage, compute and network technologies
Knowledge of capacity planning
Knowledge to effectively coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Understanding of communicating complex technical material to non-technical stakeholders
Understanding of communicating and negotiating with business clients to determine stakeholder expectations and requirements at multiple levels across the organization
Knowledge of managing global enterprise IT deployments
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Master’s degree in computer science, IT, Electrical Engineering, Cloud Computing or a related field
Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environmental Requirements
The role does have operational and escalation responsibilities and as such occasional off-hours work will be required.
Will report to a United States based manager
The Data Center / Edge Site Engineer will interact primarily with Enterprise Platforms and Security customers in Digital Technology, and consumers of internally and externally hosted services. The interaction will be focused primarily on understanding and translating business requirements and align them with suitable solutions, ensuring a positive customer experience.
The role will have a high level of interaction with key domain area experts and leaders within Digital Platforms and Security and the Compliance Teams.
Will build a strong relationship with our key technology partners occurs daily in support of BAU change and incident management activities.
Will build an external relationship with technology providers and 3rd party suppliers occurs daily to understand capabilities and industry trends.
The role must ensure the responsible use of Pfizer’s resources as it relates to the Data Center Engineering & Management services portfolio being managed. This will include understanding current ongoing spend for services and works closely with the EP&S Service Business Management team to ensure that services are being used efficiently and that cost optimization opportunities are captured.
Assist with the management of 3rd party contractor and strategic Service Provider teams for project and BAU activities is required. There are no direct colleague supervision requirements at this time .
