KENT PRISONS (Forensic & Prisons Directorate, Bracton Centre Psychology Department, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust)

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time 12-month fixed term post for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Forensic Services.

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the psychological therapies service that forms part of our mental health in-reach work in HMP Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey. A primary responsibility of this post is to facilitate individual and group psychological interventions with prisoners who have complex mental health difficulties and personality disorder. In addition, it involves the management of large data sets, audit and service evaluation.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual, who has interest in gaining experience in working in a forensic setting. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in working with people with complex mental health needs and forensic histories as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Candidates will have completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and preferably would also hold a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject area.

The Psychology Department under Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Forensic Services has a strong track record in recruiting, training and supporting graduate psychologists within forensic and forensic mental health services. In this regard, the post holder would be encouraged to engage in relevant training and other professional and career development opportunities, including regular clinical supervision with a qualified psychologist.
