We are excited to be able to offer an Administration apprenticeship opportunity working within the Oncology Outpatients Department based at the City Hospital Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside the team providing support in a range of duties including working
on reception, answering telephone enquiries, booking patient appointments, sorting post, general filing, and updating records as well as other general office duties.

You will need good communications skills and will be supported to develop lots
of new and current skills including; prioritisation, attention to detail, using your own initiative and the ability to work in a busy and fast paced environment.

You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with good organisational skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure. You will present a professional and polite attitude at all times. You will learn and develop skills using Microsoft Office and NHS systems.

This is a 15 month fixed term apprenticeship and you must be committed to work towards an NVQ level 2 in Business and Administration. As an employee we will be committed to ensuring that a structured plan is in place to support and enable you to complete your apprenticeship.

Working as part of a team, you will support the administration team in the provision of a high quality administrative and reception service.

The post holder will become fully conversant and competent in providing administrative support within a relevant administrative area of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

Training will involve working alongside the administrative staff within the different areas of the department, working under supervision.

Administrative duties:

To provide general office and administration support service to the administrative team.

To undertake general office duties, for example, answering the telephone, taking messages, filing, photocopying, handling incoming and outgoing post, etc.

Assist in the tasks and duties of other staff within the team during periods of staff leave/absence to ensure that an effective quality service is maintained at all times and contributing to the work of the team.

To record and securely store information relating to confidential matters and enquiries.
