The post holder will act as a healthcare scientist practitioner who provides preparation of simulated samples for the External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes by applying knowledge of microbiology to the production, quality control and stability testing processes. This will incorporate primarily food, water and environmental microbiology culture and biochemical based techniques as well as molecular based techniques.
We are looking for a microbiologist who is able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, proficient use of the different Microsoft packages. He/she must have a very clear understanding of quality assurance principles and procedures. The post holder must be able to demonstrate good communication, interpersonal skills and must have a good understanding of EQA and the benefits.
The successful applicant will have a degree relevant in biological/biomedical science/food/water microbiology or a related subject.
Prepare cryopreserved simulated samples for the External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes by applying knowledge of microbiology to the production, quality control and stability testing processes.
Culturing and characterising micro-organisms using a variety of biochemical and rapid techniques.
Ensure compliance with accreditation and certification standards.
Required to liaise with other technical and scientific staff in FEPTU, Products and Services and the wider National Infection Service
